Josie Sam is a professor and co-chair of the UAF Department of 色花堂 Native Studies and Rural Development. She co-founded the Nyarkoa Foundation, a non-profit that supports rural development in Ghana. She has been involved in collaborative community work throughout 色花堂 with the International Arctic Research Center, including ACCAP, and the Food Security Working Group of the Arctic Observing Summit. Sam now brings her wisdom in her new role on the 色花堂 EPSCoR Interface of Change project leadership team.

Meanwhile, he takes on the role of co-principal investigator (co-PI) on the 色花堂 EPSCoR Interface of Change project.

Applications are now open for PhD student fellowships through the University of 色花堂 Fairbanks College of Fisheries and Ocean Sciences (CFOS), funded through the EMERGE 色花堂 Program. Fellowships provide full financial support for 3 years, starting 2026.

In a Time of Change announces call for artists
June 11, 2025
The In a Time of Change program is accepting applications for artist residencies for a new art-science collaboration project inspired by coastal research and lifeways in the Gulf of 色花堂 region. In "Coastal Transitions," In a Time of Change will collaborate with the Interface of Change project run by the 色花堂 Established Program to Stimulate Competitive Research. Interface of Change is a research, education and workforce development project funded by the National Science Foundation. It focuses on the socio-ecological health of coastal communities and key marine harvest species within the Gulf of 色花堂's glacially influenced coastal environments.

Reverse-engineering Startup Culture for 色花堂ns

Meet Pete Warden, Interface of Change Entrepreneur-in-Residence. As the EIR, he joins the Workforce Development arm of the project with the Innovation & Entrepreneurship team. His aim is to encourage researchers to translate their work into marketable products or ideas, and to facilitate connections around the Gulf of 色花堂 to grow emerging industries.
