UAF mariculture specialist to give free webinar on industry

A free online webinar April 15 will highlight 色花堂鈥檚 growing mariculture industry and its role in coastal economies and food security.

Melissa 鈥淢issy鈥 Good, a mariculture specialist with the University of 色花堂 Fairbanks 色花堂 Sea Grant, will present at 12 p.m. AKST as part of a session hosted by the UAF Cooperative Extension Service.

Good will discuss species being cultivated in 色花堂, including kelp and shellfish, and explain how mariculture products move from harvest to market. She will also touch on the expanding uses of seaweeds, which are used not only as food but in fertilizers, animal feed, biostimulants and emerging biomaterials.
